Every diagram is rendered by a cube engine from its algorithm, so pictures and algs always match. Every OLL and PLL case carries its 教材公式 exactly as the book prints it (trigger parentheses and direction primes included); OLL diagrams use the textbook's orientation, and where the standard algorithm needs a turn first from that angle, it is shown as (U)/(U2)/(U'). Click a status pill to track what you're learning; the Trainer drills from it. Add your own alternative to any case with + 新公式 — the engine verifies it solves the case before saving.
Recall drills the algorithms — read the diagram, recall, reveal to check. Recognition drills naming the case at a glance, against the clock. Both are spaced: cases you miss come back sooner, and Learned ones reappear now and then so they don't fade.
Space reveals, then advances · → next case
Keys 1–4 answer · → skips · a wrong answer sends the case back into heavy rotation
The textbook's two cross chapters (简单十字 + 进阶十字) as a tutorial, plus cross-only drills. Scramble WCA-style (white top, green front), then flip the cube over sideways so white is down, green still faces you — plan the whole cross before starting. The engine shows an optimal solution after every attempt.
White down. Answer without thinking — the textbook wants this to be a conditioned reflex before 8-move crosses.
Every white edge is in one of these situations. Learn the pattern, not the moves — each diagram below is a live example (grey = irrelevant stickers), solved by the algorithm underneath it.
Bottom, white down, wrong slot — spin the bottom layer until its side colour meets its centre.
D'Top, white up — park it above its own centre, then a half turn drops it home.
F2Top, white on the side — align it above its centre, run drill 1, then press F.
U R U' R' FBottom, white on the side — free it into the middle layer, then insert. Notice the same two turns carry the orange edge home too: your first 连带.
R FMiddle layer, side colour aligned — turn it straight down.
R'Middle layer, not aligned — white facing you, use a drill to lift it to the top, align it over its centre, then drop it. (书: 做相应手法,调至顶层,对齐中心,转至底层.)
动动脑筋 — if two or more white edges are already on the bottom in the wrong slots, which do you move first?
With white down, the side centres always sit in the same ring. The book wants this as a conditioned reflex — the bottom cross is correct when the edges' relationships match the centres', even before they're aligned.
| Facing… | Left | Right | Opposite |
|---|---|---|---|
| blue 蓝 | orange | red | green |
| red 红 | blue | green | orange |
| green 绿 | red | orange | blue |
| orange 橙 | green | blue | red |
Drill it with the colour-ring reflex quiz in the Drill tab until your streak stops being lucky.
连带 = placing one cross edge while carrying another into position with the same turns. Set each case up on a solved cube with the 打乱 moves, then practise the chain until your hands see both edges at once.
The book's worked drill scramble (scramble white-top/green-front, then flip):
F2 U' F2 U2 B2 L2 D L2 F' U' L' D2 F R2 F2 D' L2 U

Cross → F2L → OLL → PLL, ~55–60 moves per solve. This guide is built around your Squirrel Cube textbook (松鼠魔方教材): its course ladder, its move language, and its F2L “standard state” method — with every algorithm cross-checked by the engine.
| Level | You learn | Target |
|---|---|---|
| 零基础 Zero basics | Beginner solve + optimised basic techniques | Solo solve, ~2:00 → sub-1:00 |
| 速拧初级 Speed beginner | Simple cross · basic F2L (standard states) · 7 cross OLL · 21 PLL | 30–40 s |
| 速拧进阶 Advanced | One/two-sided F2L · 8-move cross · full 57 OLL · whole-cube observation | Sub-20 |
| 速拧竞赛 Competition | Non-standard & empty-slot F2L · blind cross · predicting the first pair · CF transition drills | 12–15 s |
| 顶尖高手 Elite | XCross · ZBLL / COLL / WV / VLS · turning speed & observation training | Sub-10 |
Work one level at a time. The Algorithms tab tracks each stage: mark the 7 “Cross” OLLs and the 2-look PLLs first, then expand.
Your textbook calls moves by hand action. This table bridges its 中文公式 to standard notation (right hand on R, left hand on L):
| 上 R | 下 R' | 右 U | 左 U' |
| 左下 L | 左上 L' | 压 F | 提 F' |
| 底左 D | 底右 D' | 中上 M' | 中下 M |
| 两层上 r | 两层下 r' | 两层压 f | 两层提 f' |
反推 = pushing U' with the left index finger (highlighted red in the book) · 前起手 / 下起手 / 上起手 = starting grip with thumb on front / bottom / top.
About U2' / R2' / U'2: a double turn lands on the same position whichever way you spin it, so U2 and U2' are the same move — the book's prime marks the finger-trick direction (中文: 左左 = two left flicks = U2', 右右 = two right flicks = U2; 下下 = R2 as two down-flicks). The 教材公式 lines keep the book's exact writing where it marks a direction — including its trigger parentheses, (X)2 for "repeat the trigger twice", and R3 for three quarter-turns (= R').
Drill these until they run without thought — every algorithm in the library is built from them:
| Drill | Moves | Grip |
|---|---|---|
| 1 · 勾上回下 | U R U' R' | front grip, no regrip |
| 2 · 上勾下回 | R U R' U' | front grip, no regrip |
| 3 · 上勾下回 | R U R' U' | bottom grip, no regrip |
| 4 · 下压上提 | R' F R F' | front grip, no regrip |
| 5 · 压下提上 | F R' F' R | front grip, no regrip |
Warm-up: 10 clean repetitions of each, then 10 fast ones. Six rounds of drill 2 in a row returns the cube to solved.
Solve the four white edges on the bottom, 8 moves or fewer, planned fully in inspection. The textbook's advanced-cross chapter (进阶十字) builds it in stages:
The textbook teaches F2L as reduction: every one of the 41 cases is converted into one of two “standard states” (标态), then inserted. Don't memorise 41 algorithms — learn the two targets and the rules that reach them.
Two-sided F2L (双向): the same states rotated 180° — insert into the back slots without rotating the cube (e.g. connected pair: U L U' L' back-left, U' R' U R back-right; split pair: L U L' / R' U' R). Drill by solving all four slots from behind until it flows, then use it whenever it saves a rotation.
Empty slots (空槽): while other slots are still open, use them to shorten cases — convert awkward pairs to standard states through a free slot, insert lone corners or edges with D R U R' D'-style moves, and reduce a hard case while solving an easier one. The book's rule of thumb: 90% of the time, reach a standard state before rotating.
Make the top all yellow. Start with 2-look OLL: first make the yellow cross, then use the seven “Cross” cases (十字OLL) — the fish, tank, bow-tie and friends in the library, each with the textbook's recognition line.
| Look 1 — edges | Algorithm |
|---|---|
| Dot → cross | F R U R' U' F' then f R U R' U' f' |
| L-shape → cross | f R U R' U' f' (OLL 44) |
| Line → cross | F R U R' U' F' (OLL 45) |
| Look 2 — corners | OLL 21–27 · 十字OLL |
Then grow to the full 57 by textbook family — T形, Q形, 闪电, 拐弯… — using the Trainer. The book's setup trick is built in: repeating an algorithm returns to its own case.
21 cases. Learn the textbook order: U perms, H, Z (edges) → T, Y, F, J perms → the rest. Recognise by the book's side-sticker language:
| Milestone | Focus |
|---|---|
| Sub-60 | Bottom cross · standard-state F2L · 2-look OLL · 2-look PLL |
| Sub-40 | Full PLL · cross planned in inspection · finger drills daily |
| Sub-30 | Full OLL · two-sided F2L · slow-solve lookahead drills |
| Sub-20 | 8-move advanced cross · empty-slot F2L (your 非标F2L PDF) · cross+1 planning |
A good block: 5 warm-up solves → finger drills → 3 slow solves → 15 min Trainer → an ao12 attempt. And the book's best advice: spend 20 minutes a day playing with the cube — watch corners move, keep pairs in your peripheral vision. Watch the ao12 line in Insights, not single times.
